My journey in education began as a kindergarten paraprofessional, where I quickly discovered my passion for helping young learners grow. Over the years, I have remained committed to fostering engaging and inclusive learning environments. I am beyond humbled to be recognized as the 2025-2026 Teacher of the Year for South Effingham Elementary. I believe this is a reflection of the love and dedication I pour into my classroom every day.

My teaching philosophy centers on creating student-centered spaces where each child feels valued, empowered, and inspired. I believe in the power of play-based, hands-on learning to encourage curiosity, collaboration, and social-emotional growth. When students feel a strong sense of belonging, they become active participants in their own educational journey.

I love my students like they are my own children, always prioritizing their emotional well-being and personal development. I set high yet achievable expectations and help my students take ownership of their learning through reflection and goal-setting. My goal is to equip them not just with academic skills, but with the confidence, kindness, and resilience they need to thrive both in and out of the classroom.

At the heart of my work is a deep belief that education has the power to change the world. I want to help create that change; one child, one lesson, and one act of kindness at a time. I believe that every child deserves the chance to succeed, and I am committed to giving each of them the support, encouragement, and love they need to reach their full potential.

 

As William Butler Yeats beautifully said, “Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.” I strive every day to ignite that spark in my students and to inspire a lifelong love of learning to help them realize the incredible potential within themselves.
